Last minute prep ideas for the first round interviews

All set for your formal interview(s) this week?

Here’s some last minute advice for you.

1. Be on time and in the right place. This is your most important task to begin with, because if you’re not there when you’re meant to be, there won’t be a second chance. Aim to arrive about 15 minutes before your scheduled interview time. The interviews are taking place at Blackpool Football Club, you can find details of how to get there on the Club’s website here.

2. Bring your A-game. You drafted and submitted your application almost two months ago, read through it again and familiarise yourself with the answers you gave. Be ready to expand on these at your interview, and provide evidence to support any claims you’ve made. The judges are not there to try and trip you up, but they are there to dig deeper into your application. Think of the sorts of questions you might get asked and rehearse answering them. And be on top of your numbers – it’s not Dragon’s Den, but you don’t want to look like the hapless contestants you sometimes see on there that freeze when Peter Jones asks them about their projected profit margins!

3. Relax and try to enjoy it. We know, there’s a lot at stake – this could mean the difference between making it to the finals with a chance of winning, or leaving the competition. But try to enjoy the experience – it’s a great opportunity to showcase all that’s great about your organisation and what it’s achieving.

Remember, the Chamber team will be on-hand to help ensure everything runs smoothly on the day. If you have any questions or queries, now is the time to ask – get in touch with bibas@lancschamber.co.uk
