As the workplace undergoes seismic shifts in 2025—driven by AI, digitalisation and evolving industry demands – apprenticeships have never been more vital.
In Lancashire, this transformation is being embraced head-on, with businesses rethinking how they train, recruit, and retain talent for a fast-changing world.
Changes implemented through skills route maps laid out by the government have meant businesses having to pivot the way they approach apprentices.
Supporting that momentum, BAE Systems – one of the UK’s largest and most respected apprenticeship employers – is once again championing Lancashire’s next generation of talent by sponsoring the Apprentice Team of the Year category at this year’s Be Inspired Business Awards (BIBAs).
A spokesperson for BAE Systems said: “In a rapidly evolving skills landscape, apprenticeships are key to bridging the gap between education and industry. We need agile, work-ready professionals, and apprenticeships are one of the smartest ways to achieve that.
“Our commitment to nurturing young talent through our apprenticeship programs is unwavering. We are immensely proud to support the BIBAs in highlighting the importance of apprentices and celebrating their achievements.”
This year’s shortlist is the most diverse ever, with entries from hair and beauty specialist, tech firms, service providers and construction firms -all reflecting a shift in how different sectors are adapting to the future of work.
With changes to government policy, funding frameworks, and digital learning, apprenticeships in 2025 offer greater flexibility and real-world relevance than ever before.
The BIBAs aims to showcase just how vital these roles are – not just to the individuals undertaking them, but to the wider economic resilience of the region.
The awards ceremony, which brings together over 1,000 guests at the magnificent Blackpool Tower Ballroom on 19th September, is a testament to the vibrant and dynamic business community in Lancashire.
