From collecting a BIBA to entering the Dragon’s Den, last year’s Leisure & Tourism winner has had quite the 12 months.
Boss of the Secret Garden Glamping, Derry Green, went through a rollercoaster of emotions on the big night last year after entering and being a finalist in 2022.
His West Lancashire business is now the toast of the Den having prime time BBC success but nothing, says Derry, can top bagging a BIBA.
“When they announced us as the winner at the 2023 awards, I was overcome with emotion,” says Derry, “I was literally in tears, everything was building up to that night and to be able to stand up on that stage was literally a dream come true!
“The BIBAs ceremony is hands down most prestigious awards I have ever been to. It’s literally like the Oscars! Every member of staff looks forward to the evening because they know it’s something you don’t get to experience every day.
“The success at the awards really does bring the whole team together and being able to celebrate that with them has not only made the team stronger but given them a new focus to drive the business forward.”
