Sustainable businesses in the spotlight as BIBAs on tour rolls across Lancashire

Lancashire businesses leading the charge on sustainability welcomed a very special visit — as judges for the BIBAs’ Low Carbon Award hit the road last week to meet the finalists in person.

The BIBAs on Tour – a key stage in the prestigious awards’ rigorous judging process – gives judges the chance to go behind the scenes and see how each business is embedding low carbon strategies into their everyday operations.

And this week, sustainability – amongst four other categories – will take centre stage.

Low carbon has become a priority for organisations keen on reducing their carbon emissions.

And with government initiatives encouraging more companies to watch their energy consumption and invest in greener ways, more and more businesses are signing up and showing how they can be more sustainable.

And it’s not just the big players getting involved, reports show green initiatives are becoming a top priority in Lancashire’s blossoming micro and small business sector.

Returning as sponsor of the Low Carbon Award is Sustainable Energy First – a Fylde-based leader in energy procurement, risk management and net zero solutions – whose continued support reflects their deep commitment to accelerating the region’s green transition.

Ben Beetham, Partnerships Manager at Sustainable Energy First, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be visiting this year’s finalists as part of BIBAs on Tour.

“Last year’s visits were a real eye-opener – the innovation and passion we witnessed was outstanding, and this year promises to be even more inspiring.

“Low carbon practices are now embedded in so many Lancashire businesses, and it’s no longer just about compliance – it’s about creating long-term value, resilience and environmental impact. These finalists are leading the way.”

As the BIBAs continues to recognise the best in innovation, excellence, and leadership, the Low Carbon category showcases the businesses powering Lancashire’s sustainable future — and this week, the spotlight is firmly on them.
