After many years of bringing a major transformation to one of Lancashire’s biggest business names, David Holmes was crowned the Business Person of the Year at the BIBAs in 2010.
The director of investment and infrastructure services at FTSE 100-listed defence firm BAE Systems, which employs 10,000 people at its two Lancashire sites, oversaw the transformation of its Samlesbury site.
This work included the creation of world-leading facilities for products built by the company including its Typhoon and Hawk aircraft, used by the RAF.
Recalling stepping onto the stage to receive the award, David Holmes says: “It was a complete surprise to win such a prestigious award.
“It was real reflection on the contributions of the whole team at BAE Systems, not just myself.
“I was truly humbled and honoured to be recognised in such a way and still am today.”
