Lancashire’s medium businesses can play a major role in boosting the county’s economy, according to one of its largest employers.

Nick Jones, Stakeholder Relations Manager at nuclear fuel firm Westinghouse, said the influence of the sector to power economic prosperity could not be underestimated.

He was part of the Medium Business of the Year judging panel for this year’s Be Inspired Business Awards, the BIBAs, which toured firms across Lancashire to select the award’s winner.

In less than one month, the winner of the awards’ 18 prizes will be unveiled at a special ceremony held at the Blackpool Tower.

Mr Jones said: “When we talk about the business community, we often refer to small businesses and major blue-chip firms, but there is a huge amount of people employed medium-sized businesses.

“In Lancashire, I saw a huge number of fantastic medium-sized businesses which were innovating to drive growth and employment.”
