Liz Russell described herself as ‘overwhelmed’ as she was named Lancashire’s top entrepreneur at the BIBAs in 2009.

The farmer’s daughter who runs Envirosystems UK, which manufactures animal bedding from recycled materials, collected the prize in front of a sell-out crowd at the Blackpool Winter Gardens.

Liz said: “It is a great honour to win this prize, I am just so overwhelmed.

“No trophy can be achieved on your own and I have to thank my wonderful family and the team at EnviroSystems for their loyalty, hard work and dedication which has been tremendous.”

She then followed up her success at the 2009 prize-giving ceremony by collecting two further BIBAs at the 2010 awards, collecting the trophies for the Business Woman of the Year and Best Use of Innovation categories.

This came on top of Envirosystems UK winning accreditation in the innovation category for the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in 2006.
