One of Lancashire’s biggest awards ceremonies is exactly the type of event which Blackpool needs to attract to the resort, according to a group of business leaders.
The Blackpool Business Leadership Group (BBLG), a body set up in 2006 to improve communication and relationships between the town’s private and public sector, said the Be Inspired Business Awards, the BIBAs, will bring hundreds of thousands of pounds of business with it when it holds its ceremony in September.
It is expected to attract a sell-out crowd of more than 1,000 people to the Tower Ballroom, making it the biggest event of its kind in the county.
Martin Long, chair of the BBLG, said the group was supporting the event because of the spin off benefits to the local economy.
He said: “The BIBAs has been bringing these benefits to Blackpool over many years and we have no doubt another sell-out audience will deliver the same in 2015.
“Every person attending the ceremony will be spending money in the resort whether that is using local taxis, staying in hotel rooms or enjoying one of the resort’s many attractions over the weekend.
“Not only that, but the staging of the county’s premier business awards event in the magnificent Tower Ballroom is a great advertisement for the resort.
“We are delighted to welcome the BIBAs back to Blackpool in September and look forward to it returning for many years to come.”
