Summer heatwave provides Lancashire’s tourist economy the perfect chance to showcase its talents at the BIBAs.

Jamie Griffiths, Brand Programme Director, Smooth Radio North West, said: “The county’s stunning countryside, coastline and venues have attracted huge numbers of visitors in recent weeks as temperatures have soared.

“The diversity of leisure businesses, from cafes and restaurants through to zoos and historic attractions, would be enough to bring visitors back to the county.”

Smooth Radio North West is sponsor of the Leisure and Tourism Business of the Year award at the Be Inspired Business Awards, the BIBAs, which hands out its prizes at its annual ceremony in September.

Jamie said: “Whether it is a short break or just a day out, Lancashire has become an attraction for visitors across the UK thanks to our great transport links, the amazing countryside and cities we have here and, of course, the range of things to see and do.

“As Lancashire’s number one commercial radio station* we know from our listeners that the recent spell of warm weather has got people across the North West exploring what we have to offer and I have no doubt that our leisure and tourism businesses have shown them in style.

“When the BIBAs 2018 judges visited the finalists for our category, in the peak of the heatwave, we certainly saw some inspirational businesses and the people behind them working hard to show Lancashire in its best light.”

The preparations are now underway for the BIBAs awards ceremony in the Tower Ballroom at The Blackpool Tower on September 14.

Babs Murphy, Chief Executive of the awards’ organisers, the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, said:  “The BIBAs are known as ‘the one they all want to win’ for a reason that every part of it is the best of the best and the ceremony is the showpiece of that.

“We started arrangements for this year’s awards when the final golden balloon dropped from the Tower Ballroom ceiling last September, so no stone has been left unturned.

“One thing I can guarantee is that the BIBAs ceremony will be another memorable evening in Lancashire’s business calendar.”
