“The BIBAs has always been of interest to me as a North West-based award ceremony and as a woman in a tough business industry, I was keen to go against the male stereotype.
“I was keen to meet with fellow regional business people and hear about their achievements and for myself and Inspired Energy to be recognised as one of the largest and most successful businesses in Lancashire.
“I also wanted to showcase my achievements as a female and show other businesswomen that it is possible to be a success in a male dominated environment.
“The lead up to the awards and the ceremony itself was very useful to myself and Inspired as I got the chance to meet and network with fellow Lancashire corporates who I may not necessarily have come into contact with otherwise.
“I also gained a lot of positive feedback and press coverage following my award win, a vital part of any business.”
Janet Thornton is the founder of Inspired Energy and winner of the Business Woman of the Year Award at the BIBAs 2014.
