Every week we will bring you the thoughts of a former winner of one of our awards about why they applied, what the application process did for them and what being a BIBAs winner means to them.
This week we hear from Kirsty Henshaw, the founder of Kirsty’s, who won the New Business of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year awards at the BIBAs in 2011….
“When I first entered the BIBAs, I’d had a great couple of years and overcome a lot of difficulties and adversities, so I felt that was my time to enter.
“Plus, I love a good party and I had heard The BIBA’s was the best event around.
“Winning at the BIBAs established great credibility to both my company and personally.
“I had a national food business, but after winning the BIBAs I became much more connected within Lancashire.
“Since I won at the BIBAs in 2011, we had a tough 2012 but thankfully pulled through and for the past three-and-a-half years we have grown to be a £6m retail brand across five top retailers.
“It is very hard work but I would not change a thing.”
