The Grand at Clitheroe was the winner of the Creative Business of the Year category at the BIBAs 2013.
When Steven Lancaster accepted the prize for Creative Business of the Year at the BIBAs 2013, his father, John, was applauding louder than anyone.
But, the night would become an even more memorable one for the Lancaster family when John took to the stage later in the night to accept the lifetime achievement award, Lancastrian of the Year.
Steven’s award was handed out for The Grand Venue, the charitable trust which operates the Clitheroe theatre, while John’s prize was for his work initially founding Ribble Valley conservatory firm, Ultraframe, and his tireless charitable work which includes helping people with AIDS in poverty-stricken South Africa.
Speaking after the award, John Lancaster said: “Steven is the executive director of the Grand, and it is the first time a father and a son have both won awards at this event on the same evening, which is lovely.
“Also, I understand, a charity had never won the Creative Business prize before, which makes it extra special for everybody.”
Steven added: “For the Grand to win the Most Creative Business award is such a proud moment and lovely recognition for all our efforts.”
