The Sculpture
Queen's Award Winning Sculptor Charles Hadcock was born in Derby in 1965 and now lives in the North West, based in Preston. He studied fine art at the Royal College of Art, London (1987-89), specialising in sculpture and in 2004 was made a fellow of the RSA. Born into a family of engineers and architects, Hadcock has brought some of those skills and interests to his sculpture. An abiding love of Victorian engineering and of mathematics has enriched his work that also references music and poetry.
An artist who works frequently to commission, Hadcock's sculptures feature in the collections of Allied Domecq; BAA, Gatwick Airport; ICI plc; Fuller, Smith and Turner; AMEC Developments Limited; Ivory Gate UK Ltd; Sculpture at Goodwood; Brighton and Hove Council; the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, St James Homes Limited and Scottish Widows.
His latest commission is for Conran Architects and was recently unveiled outside the Citylofts Plc development on Salford Quays.
Charles' historical relationship with the BIBAs continues for 2008 with his beautiful hand-crafted, individually made pieces signifying the BIBAs competition.
Winners of the 18 categories will each receive their very own unique, limited edition, numbered piece by Charles.
