Judges who will pick the winners of one of Lancashire’s leading business awards have gone ‘on tour’ to visit its finalists.
The panel for the Exporter of the Year category at the Be Inspired Business Awards (BIBAs) yesterday visited eight firms across the county to select their winner.
The visits kicked off of a unique second round of judging which sees judges visit business premises to meet the people leading them and working for them.
Dr Caroline Chesworth, founder of educational franchise Mad Science North West, which is sponsoring the second round of judging, said the visits gave judges an insight into what makes a business tick.
She said: “A successful business is about more than profit and loss and even more than the people who sit on its board of directors.
“It is about the people at every level of the business, the way they approach doing business, working with customers and so many other things which you simply cannot tell from an application form or meeting one representative at an interview.
“By sending the judges on tour to visit the nominees for each categories, the BIBAs is ensuring no stone has been left unturned to pick a worthy winner.
“Mad Science North West I delighted to be involved with the BIBAs again and we recognise what every applicant puts in to winning an award, so the judges need to ensure they have put their all in to selecting our winners.”
