In the build-up to the ceremony of the BIBAs 2016, we look back at some of the businesses and individuals which have stepped up to pick up the awards’ iconic trophy down the year.
Here we look back to 2013, when Roaming Roosters was named the Green Business of the Year.
Innovation, enthusiasm and a greener way of thinking was behind the success of East Lancashire firm Roaming Roosters at the BIBAs in 2013.
The business which runs an online butchers and a farm shop bistro serving produce from its sustainable farm picked up the Green Business of the Year prize at the ceremony.
On its own website after collecting the prize, the company described the BIBAs as “Lancashire’s leading and biggest awards competition.”
It added: “We are pretty chuffed to be named champions, especially for an award that’s right up R’ street – we’re all about being green, green, green.”
The company cited its “green ways” as the secret of its success, adding: “As a sustainable farm we endeavour to create our own eco-system, putting back into the environment what we take out.
“In doing this we encourage and utilise what our environment naturally provides us with and wherever possible we replenish resources such as water, soil and air by conserving and preserving them and making them readily available for generations to come.”
