IT WAS A NIGHT TO REMEMBEROver 800 of Lancashire’s brightest business stars gathered together for the 2009 BIBA’s Award Ceremony which took place today (Friday 6th March) at Blackpool’s world famous Winter Gardens. Over 800 of Lancashire’s brightest business stars gathered together for the 2009 BIBA’s Award Ceremony which took place today (Friday 6th March) at Blackpool’s world famous Winter Gardens. Hailed as the ‘Business Oscars’, the 2009 BIBAs is the most ambitious event of its kind and, this year, attracted an exceptional 900 entries (including 65 finalists) from some of Lancashire’s top performing companies. The awards were launched to find the areas top business gurus, companies, employers and entrepreneurs, supported by a prestigious range of sponsors and partners including Lancashire Economic Partnership, North West Development Agency and Lancashire County Developments Ltd. Chief Executive of North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, Babs Murphy, said: “Lancashire’s success and prosperity is dependent on the strength and vibrancy of its business community. Those at the forefront of business success are sometimes less than forthcoming about publicising their achievements. These awards acknowledge our local businesses outstanding performance in the global marketplace and I would like to congratulate all the winners on their superb achievements”. Babs Murphy added: “All the finalists represented on the night should also be praised because they are shining examples of what can be achieved, particularly in these difficult and challenging times, by people with a real aspiration to improve their business and significantly contribute to the local economy. “The calibre of entries this year was exceptionally high and everyone who entered deserves admiration. Participating businesses gained real benefits and opportunities to promote their achievements at the highest level. “The BIBA’s are all about recognising excellence and achievement in companies operating in Lancashire and the Chamber is proud to play its role in supporting, nurturing and encouraging business excellence in the business sector through this Awards programme”.
